Epiphanies is the sixth episode of Series One of Spaced.
Overview[]
Tensions are running high. Tim and Daisy are bickering and Mike is facing rejection from his rambling club. Can a night of hedonism sort everything out? It seems worth a try...
Synopsis[]
A dreaming Brian recalls an incident at a pub in 1983, when an attempt to dance to “Come On Eileen” ended with him being punched in the face after accidentally spilling a fellow patron’s drink. Awakening to the same song on his radio, he angrily knocks it away.
Daisy and Tim are watching reruns of 'Grange Hill' while Mike, still not over having been thrown out of the Territorial Army, is trying to get his survival kicks out of doing Eskimo rolls in a canoe at his Rough Ramblers group. When Mike later shows up at the flat, dripping wet, he reveals that the roll went wrong and he had to be revived by the leader of the group; as a result he has been kicked out of the Rough Ramblers.
Tyres arrives and suggests that what the group needs is a night out clubbing, which everyone finally agrees to. While Daisy dances in the cloakroom queue, Brian rediscovers his need to dance but, after knocking a bottle of water out of a fellow dancers hands, he begins reliving his nightmare. Instead of punching him however, the dancer just hugs it out with Brian. Meanwhile, Mike feels revitalised and leads the crowd in a military-style dance routine to a remix of the A-Team theme.
Satisfied that his work is done, Tyres disappears into the smoke before re-emerging coughing.
